Regular check ups and having your teeth cleaned professionally is essential to protect the health of your teeth and gums.
Routine check-ups
- At each consultation your teeth, gums and mouth will be carefully examined to ensure you are in good oral health.
- After the examination we will discuss with you any requirements you may have and offer advice on how to protect your teeth going forward.
- Depending on the condition of your teeth and your previous dental treatments your dentist will usually recommend a dental check up at least once a year or every six months.
Soft Tissue Examination
At every examination appointment we report on the condition of your soft tissue. This is part of Oral Cancer Screening and includes checking all over for any lumps or painless ulcers and palpating lymph nodes under the jaw line and checking the symmetry of the major salivary glands.
Cancer Research and the Mouth Cancer Foundation advise oral cancer screening is carried out at frequent intervals, and certainly at least annually.
